Mad Cropper’s Random Act of Kindness Contest

by Christine on May 14th, 2008

kodak-easyshare-printer.jpg

As mentioned a few days ago, Mad Cropper is running a Random Act of Kindness Contest in conjunction with Eastman Kodak’s All-in-one printer to celebrate the start of its 4th year! Yay!

Prize up for grabs: Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-in-One Printer with a value of $149.99

Guidelines after the jump

Contest guidelines:

1) In the spirit of the Random Act of Kindness giveaway in the scrapbooking world, nominate someone whom you think deserves to receive a Kodak Easyshare 5300 All-in-One Printer by leaving a comment on this post.

2) You cannot nominate yourself.

3) The contest is open to RAK recipients based in the US only. The one who leaves a comment and nominates (that’s you!) does not have to be based in the US but you can nominate someone based in the US but remember, you have to tell us why this person deserves a Kodak Easyshare 5300 All-in-One printer.

4) One entry per person.

5) The contest will run for 2 weeks from 14-28 May 2008. Entries will be accepted till 11.59pm EST on 28 May 2008.

I will announce the winner on 31 May 2008, Saturday. Michael Mayfield from Eastman Kodak will select the lucky winner. His choice is final.

For any enquiries, please shoot me an email on christine(at)b5media(dot)com.

Have fun and good luck!

I nominate my friend, Les, from ScrapWords. She started her dream business, an online blogging and scrapbooking website. She is struggling as she just celebrated her 1st Anniversaray and the store is starting to grow. I have met such lovely people on her website - and she is always cheerful, encouraging and friendly. It takes a brave person to follow a dream, and she is truly doing it! I thank her for welcoming me, as I am disabled and housebound. She has given me a place to call home online. A place where I am happy, loved, and supported in my creative endeavors. I would be totally lost if not for Les. Please consider her for the printer… she mentioned the other day that she needed one…. and I would LOVE to give just a little back to her. Thank you!

I nominate my scrapbook mentor , Halli. I met her through Creative Memories. She has helped me organize 13 years of photos so I can get them into books, encouraged me with my albums, helped me expand my creativity on my pages. She could really put this amazing printer to use as she, her husband and two sons (grade school age) are going to China in June to pick up their new adoptive daughter. They’re going to be taking tons of pictures while over there to share with friends and if course making memory books for their new daughter of her place of birth and heritage.

I would like to nominate my son who does not live with me. He lives with his dad in another state. I had bought him a printer and he took very good care of it and it finally wore out ( twas cheap). He needs a printer for schoolwork and to print out sheetmusic. At 11 years old, he is a musician extraordinare’. He would so love this and he has worked so hard at his music lessons. He has taken piano for 6 years and guitar for 3. There is lots of sheet music available on the web but he cannot use without printer.
    He so deserves it!

i would like to nominate my sister in law, deb. she is a scrapping fiend! she takes the time to take pictures at all our school events. when her daughter’s (8 years old now) best friend was diagnosed with cancer for the second time, she made a quilt with all the kids from the class for this little girl, and is always there to help this girl and her mom (the girl’s daddy and she were diagnosed with cancer within months of each other, only he didn’t make it.) she truly has the most giving heart!

I nominate my best friend, Kristine Paisley. When I was interested in starting scrapbooking three years ago, she not only helped me start my first page, but also answered my many questions over the phone. She often will lend her creative services to her children’s classes and to friends and she has made some amazing projects over the years. Kristine now has to work full time, but she still manages to find time for her first love-scrapbooking. I know that over the years she has inspired many to take up this hobby and will continue to share it with anyone who is interested. To view her work, visit her blog at: http://www.paisleyscraps.blogspot.com

I’d like to nominate April Ordonez. She was one of the very first blogs I ever found. She has helped me along the way to learn how to scrapbook and rubberstamp! She has been making lots of awesome scrap layouts and I know she could use a great photo printer! She has two adorable little boys and a very handsome husband that she scraps many pages of , not to mention other family membes/events!

She has always been willing to lend me a hand, be it telling me how to do something or sending me a RAK for no reason…just because!

I think April would make a wonderful recipient of a really fantastic printer such as this Kodak!

    Thank you!

I would like to nominate my daughter. She finished high school early, in January at age 17, started community college classes and earned a 4.0 this semester!! While doing this, she also worked 40 hours a week and has the first semester paid! I saved up and bought her a laptop for her graduation (she actually gets her high school diploma next week since they only have one ceremony a year. The printer would be a wonderful addition! She is also starting to scrapbook-and really enjoying it!

This is my third attempt at nominating - for some reason, my posts don’t show up. I would like to nominate my co-worker, Alma for this. She is a single mother of 3 girls and after many years of taking 1 or 2 classes a semester, she is graduating with her AA degree in a couple of weeks. During this time, she has held a full-time job as well as going to school. She is a scrapbooker but for the present, she doesn’t put a lot of time into it because of school. Alma is always cheerful and often the last of the clerical staff out of the office. I know she would really be surprised and honored to receive this.

I nominate my son Travis. He graduated high school last year at age 16, is a National Merit Scholar and is attending college year round 1000 miles from home. His 8 year old brother, 7 year old sister, and I miss him very much. We bought him a Kodak digital camera for Christmas so he could get some pictures for us. The problem is he has to go somewhere to print them. If you know anything about a teenage boy in college, then you know that isn’t going to happen. With this Kodak all in one printer, we might actually get to see some of the pictures he has taken. This printer would also come in very handy with his school work. I wonder what he would use it for the most?

I nominate my Mom Donna to win the Eastman Kodak’s All-in-one printer. She is not exactly technically savvy, and now that I have moved to another state I can’t help her print her pictures anymore. Her scrapbooking has come to a screeching halt.
The Kodak All-in-one printer looks easy to use and the pictures look great. Just what my mom needs!

I am nominating my mom, Tina. She deserves this (in my opinion) because she is retiring in October of this year. She’s worked hard all of her life, and when she retires, she’s going to be a transcriptionist from home, so she’ll need a printer! And hopefully within the next year, my mom will be a grandma! She’ll want to print pictures for sure then! :)

I would love to nominate my mom Yvonne Taylor. My mom has always been there for me no matter what. My son was constantly getting Pneumonia from time he was born till ten months old.He was hospitalized about four times and each time my mom was there. My mom came to the hospital and even stayed over night there to help take care of him. She always puts everyone else before herself. Right now she spends most of her time going to my grandmas house to take care of her. She spends at least three to four days in a row there before switching out with my brother. My mom has been taking care of my grandma for a month now and will continue on until my Uncle is out of the nursing home for rehab. Even then she will probably continue helping because my uncle foot was amputated. Will take time to get use to his prosthetic. My mom is a amazing lady and deserves so much more then what life has dealt her.

I would like to nominate my mother Tonya Keener. When I was five my grandparents took me from my mother due to her alcoholism. April 4, 2007, the day I turned 19, my mom moved five minutes from me with 10 1/2 years sobriety, her car payed off, and money saved for the move after working two and three jobs for years. On mothers day this year she was there when I graduated from Gulf Coast College magna cum lada 3.8 GPA. She is going to be here when I graduate FSU, when I get married, and when I have my own children. I know she has missed alot of my years but we have alot of years left. It is still hard for her to forgive herself but I told her “mom I have forgiven you and God has forgiven you, so please forgive yourself”.

A 5 year suvrivor of breast cancer, she is particapating in thie years Relay for Life to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. I am nominating my mom who is an absolute die-hard Tampa Bay Rays baseball fan. She attends a number of games, even travels to whatever city they are playing their last games in the series each season. She takes many photos and has them autographed at later games (for her own collection, not for ebay) and meet and greets with the players. This is what makes her happy and she enjoys the relative easy access to the players on this team.

I nominate my Sister Terri. She has done so many nice things for me and my family. She was never able to have children, and is like the second mother to mine. I know that she is always there for me, and would do anything for me. When we went through a tough time financially, she was right there. She would show up with clothes for my kids, or bags of grocerys. When my daughter was ill, she sat right there beside me all nite in the hospital. She is also a geriatric nurse and gives it her all helping people. I know many of times when she stayed after work, just to hold someone hand while they passed away, so they wouldnt be alone. I’d love to be able to give something back to her. To let her know how much I love her and appreciate her. I just got her hooked on scrapbooking, and this would be wonderful for her. Even if I dont win. I’m happy to be able to post something about how much she means to me.

My daughter’s kindergarten teacher would be a wonderful candidate for this prize…she takes lots of photos of the kids and likes to make memory boards and projects with them using her own money, and this printer would give her something that she could use everyday without having to buy it herself. Patti O’Brien is a fantastic teacher!

  • Wanda

I nominate my sister Kandy. She is such a giving person. When any friend or family is down and out she is there to take care of them. When her friend found out she had cancer she went to Dr. appts with her, at the end she was there to hold her hand as she took her last breath. Her best friend had to have surgery, she was there to spend the night when she needed her. Our aunt found out she had cancer, she didn’t have childrent who lived close. My sister was there to take her to every Dr. appt., hold her hand during the entire illness. When she wanted to be home for the end, she was there to take care of her and try to help her work through the pain. The list can go on and on. She is always putting others 1st.
She loves scrapbooking, unfortunately does not have as much time to spend on it as she would like. Of course her goal right now is to place the family pictures left from our parents into albums for my brother and myself.

  • Julie Nusbaum
    May 19, 2008 at 7:38 am

I would like to nominate my friend Chris. She is the most creative and artistic person I know. She borrowed and cleaned out an old store last summer and gave quilting classes there for free- just because she loves it so much. She does all kinds of creative stuff like hand-dying fabrics, painting, home decor, etc. Lately she’s been picking up a few college classes to finish her degree and get her teaching certificate. She has three kids at home and not a lot of spare change. I’d like to see her get this printer not just to help her scrapbook all her kids’ accomplishments, but her own as well. It would also be great for creating quilting templates and paper-piecing patterns. I know Chris could put this to good use.

I nominate Amber Lockhart for the Kodak Printer. She’s an avid advanced photographer with most of her subjects being her family members, i.e. her small children. She has learned a lot about photography and really needs a good printer. She has a small 4×6 printer which is ok, but this new Kodak Printer/scanner would be ideal. I understand that ink is a lot less expensive on the Kodak printer and this would fit with her young family finances.
    Thanks

I really have to nominate my mom, Jeane. We got back from a great vacation to Disneyland and had taken, literally 100’s of pictures. We met three different groups of friends there over four days. Oh, the memories!

So, she asks me when I would be putting all of these in a scrapbook. Right, mom. I have not even done the boy’s baby books yet. And I’m a school teacher. She took my pictures and has been working on the book for two months. I saw the first few layouts..oh, my gosh! She is going all out! She did mention that she took my pictures and ran them back throught her Kodak picture program to get the color, brightness, white (?), and contrast corrected. Did cropping, etc. What do I know?

Would anyone but your mom do this for you? Well, maybe it’s for her grandkids. But we all love her. This is just the kind of thing she would do for one of us.

She told me that the book is for my birthday. Yeah, it’s now officially my birthday WEEK. (Her invention..of course!) May 26th.

I would love to tell her that I won her a Kodak Easy Share 5300 printer as a Thank You for all she has done for me.

And thank you for letting me share this happy event!

I want to nominate my wife Daniela, who kept a scrapbook of the faimily. Married for 42 years her pictures date back to our young day and now our senior days. It is a book of memories- from the birth of our children to the later years of my mom and dad who she took care of. Prictures of fun things as well as sad. A life in New Orleans had many downs including several hurricans-which caused us to leave the city with my elderly parent.

This would be neat if I could win it for my son Brice that is in his 3rd year of college. His cheap printer that I bought him a couple years ago died on him 2 weeks ago. We lost his dad to cancer when he was only 16 and it would be nice if something neat would be happen for him..Every one likes to win some thing some time or other. Just makes your day.

This would be a much appreciated surprise and hopefully help him out a little.

I nominate my Aunt and Uncle. They’re running a small chiropractic clinic; they are not as wealthy as most of the chiropractors because they don’t charge people very much. They’re so hard-working, but some people just take advantages over them. I think a nice little printer will help their business, such as printing brochures or ads.

I’d like to nominate my niece, Rebecca. She’s loves to scrapbook and is also one of the most courageous people I know. She was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 20 and had to give up her dream of becoming a dancer - even though she had already completed 3 years toward her dance degree. She did go on to complete her BFA and adding a business minor and now she’s going for second degree in Accounting and Finance. She realized that your dreams don’t have to die - they just sometimes take a detour. All that before age 25, too!

    Thanks,

I’d like to nominate my sister Janice. She is the mother of seven (the last two being 10 month old twins), yet she still finds time to scrapbook. Each child has their own scrapbook filled with memories. These book are her children’s favorite books! And yes, she even finds time to help me attempt scrapbooking too! She is an amazing woman and this printer would really speed up the process for her!

I would like to nominate my mother Penni. She is in her 60’s and is trying to teach herself how to use the computer. I know for most of us this sounds easy, but believe me, for some of the senior generation this is no easy task! My Mom is totally clueless when it comes to computers, but she is really giving it 125% and she is actually doing quite well. She is now emailing her “friends” and our family members who are scattered across the USA and she is learning to scan pictures and send them off to her friends. Each time something she tries to do on the computer works for her correctly, she gets so excited and I am very proud of her. My mom lives 1/2 hour away from me so I cannot just run over and help her when she is having a computer “crisis” which does happen all the time. Instead, I try and assist her over the phone and even though I can feel her frustration at times, she is a real trooper and does not give up until whatever issue she is having with the computer is resolved. I would absolutely love to reward her efforts with this fantastic Kodak Easyshare all-in-one printer. She does have a Kodak Digital Camera and with this printer she can learn to print her pictures from home and that would be awesome for her to learn how to do. Thank you so much for offering this great giveaway!

I would like to nominate my daughter Amy. She works and attends college part-time. Her job is at “Curves.” There are many older ladies that exercise every day. She always encourages and supports them as they try to remain active. They are always calling her or giving her little gifts to let her know how much they appreciate her.

Amy always has to wait to print her photos until she comes to visit me. I think she deserves to win this printer in thanks for her generosity and kindness.

I’d like to nominate my 18 year old neice. In her first year of college, she was sadly diaognosed with MS.

It took several months of testing to diagnose her, but at no time did she allow herself to get depressed. She never once complained . And it didn’t stop her or even slow her down. She works part time, kept her grades up, and still volunteers at her local animal shelter and never missed her regular visits to her grandmother who lives at a senior care center.

I only wish I had the strength she has.

And I know as a soon to be college sophmore, she can probably use a new printer.

She is an incredible person who spends the majority of her time devoted to caring for others. She is so selfless - I would love to see her win something that would be so special and useful to her. Scrapbooking is one of her few hobbies - and having a printer that she could use to print her photos easily from home would be a great encouragement to her in taking more time for herself.

She is kind and generous and likes to surprise me with her acts of kindness like a box of books that she knows I can’t afford! Not only is it an amazing feeling to get a sweet unexpected gift in the mail but it reminds me that I am remembered. I wish I could return the gift, so I would love nothing more than for her to receive a gift and know I thought of her random act of kindness and appreciated it and maybe can make her day too.

I would like to nominate my mother-in-law. She is a fantastic woman who keeps close ties with the family even though we live on the other side of the country. She is always sending little gifts in the mail to my two boys to brighten their days, and she loves them very much. Unfortunately, she is not very tech savy, and I think that the Kodak Easy Share system would be perfect for her. I’d love for her to have a new printer so we could send email her more photos of the boys. Thank you for the great contest.

I’d like to nominate my grandaughter Elizabeth. She is wheelchair bound and the mother of a five year old son. She is unfailingly cheerful and scrapbooking adds so much pleasure to her life. Her last printer was cheap and didn’t produce nice photos like a Kodak printer would. She deserves something nice.

I would love to nominate my sister-in-law Kirsten. She is a stay-at-home mom who makes all of her own cards. Every time there is a holiday or birthday, everyone in my family anxiously awaits their card. She is so talented and creative. This printer would really help her expand her craft. She has to print her pictures at the nearest drugstore which can cost alot of money. I would love to see the look on her face if she received one of these.

I nominate my wife…she would love to do digital scrapbooking, for both pictures of our family and friends.
she needs a better printer to do this, though.
    Her name is Sherri

I would nominate my friend Emily. She’s currently working on starting up her own photography business and I think a tool like this would really help her out.

I nominate my sister in law Jennifer who has a ton of photos on the camera but never prints them out. She is learning how to do the scrapbooks and this would be a big advantage for her to have this to print out and create with. Nice contest!!

this is an easy one: my g/f is a teacher, and she spends alot of her own money on supplies and misc. for school and curriculum-based activities. she needs a new printer, and this would take some stress off her having to cram get everything done during her off period.

My daughter really deserves a Kodak Easyshare printer for her scrapbooking. She recently earned a Master’s Degree. She completed the two year course in a year and a half and maintained a 4.0 GPA while teaching full time, running a household, working occasionally at her husband’s store, and participating in community events. She never neglected her family, friends, or community. She deserves a break to spendtime on her favorite pasttime — scrapbooking and I would love to be able to give the printer to her!!! Thanks for this great contest!

I nomintae my Friend Carol in The State of California. Such a hard working lady for her family and grand-daughter. Always puts them first even through all her illness and pain she endures each day. I’m sure she would just Love to have a Printer

My husband has been taking care of me through several serious illnesses. He is an amateur photographer and would be thrilled with something like this. He rarely spends any money on himself. I was a nurse by profession and would have gotten tired of caring for someone for the 4 years he has been doing this for me. He does it with love and tenderness and never seems to mind.

I nominate my dad. He is an US Air Force Veteran of two foreign wars. He has always done the best for his country and family. In recent years he has found great joy in scrap booking as a way to remember the years more vividly. This would be perfect for him to use due to its easy to use format. I know he is someone that would truly appreciate it.
