Mad Cropper Contest: Your Scrapbook Highs and Lows for 2007

by Christine on December 30th, 2007

It’s only 2 days to go till we say goodbye to 2007 and what better way to end a fruitful year with Mad Cropper by running a contest!

Remember, this post where I told you that Laura Childs has very kindly donated one of her amazing books as prize for a Mad Cropper contest?

Bestselling author Laura Childs delights us with her newest book Frill Kill featuring scrapbook store owner Carmela Bertrand. Halloween is barely a week away when Carmela attends a party in the French Quarter of New Orleans where a sexy tarot card reader enthralls her as he skillfully works the crowd. But what he doesn’t foretell is that on her way home Carmela will discover the body of a beautiful model behind a Dumpster - and be attacked herself!

Mechanics on how to join (it’s easy!) after the jump!

To join, all you have to do is to post your Scrapbook Highs and Lows for 2007.

If you have your own blog, you can post it there and link back to this entry (plus leave a comment!).

If you don’t have your own blog, simple enter by using the comment section of this blog post.

We will accept entries until 18 January 2008, Friday. Laura Childs herself will pick the winner and we will announce the winner on 21 January 2008, Monday.

My highs for 2007 was that I got a lot of scrapbooking tools, paper and embelishments through the year as gifts. Word as gotten around that I am a scrappin’ addict. My low was that because I was planning my own wedding that I did not have much time to use my new supplies. 2008 is looking great! I have decided to allot a little time each day to keep up with my scrappin’. I have also started a scrapping journal that I keep in my purse so when an idea does pop in my head I can write it down right away. Before the ideas would bounce around like a superball on acid in my head and then eventually bounce right out. Have a happy and crafty New Year!

That book sounds really exciting! My high was expanding my papercrafting abilities from card making into learning how to scrapbook also. Lows are that I have a really crummy printer that is usually not working when I try to make a copy of one of my photos to scrapbook.

As for my scrapbook high; it had to be finishing my first layout in October. As for my scrapbook low; it has to be not having the enough time in the day to create more layouts. Thank you for the opportunity to submit my scrapbook highs and lows. I love to read and look forward to the possibility of receiving Laura Childs’ book through this contest.

My scrapbook low was not being able to scrapbook for months. My husband was in an auto accident and left with brain damage, requiring 24 hr care witch I do along with taking care of 3 kids, our home and pets plus work part time. After all his therapy was done I had a chance to get back at it. My scrapbook high was getting 278 page layouts done in 3 months. Now I just have to get them all in albums and I am working on that. I have started the new year out with 10 layouts already done, my goal being 1 per day for the entire year, I want break that this year.

My highs for 2007 definately have to include the Scrapping Weekend away - absolutely devine a whole weekend to scrap at a fantasic venue with my scrapping partner - my sister- (thank goodness I have a scrapaholic sister) - and also my December holidays scrapping every second day with my sister. Another very special time for me was in November I compiled an album celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. (I did a double page on the highlights and lowlight for each year - it was amazing to realise how much had happened and wonderful to relive the memories. The last pages of the album was the renewal of our wedding vows in December last year - the lows would have to be that the December holidays are over and that I looked better in my photos ten years ago than I do now! Seriously, I don’t really have “Scrapping lows” - Scrapping is always on my list of “highs” Its what keeps me sane when everything else drives me crazy - it’s my “me time”. When I do scrapping I retreat into a different world!

…my high for the year is the opportunity to take a train trip to Seattle and meet my daughter-in-law coming back to the lower 49 from Alaska…we drove nback together to Iowa and 3 months later my son got out of the U.S. Coast Guard and is now living with his wife within 45 miles from me…the first time since he was in 5th grade! My low is not having a chance to scrapbook due to a move and everything being still packed away…however I’m making a dent in the boxes and 2008 will become a great “scrapping” year.

My low for 2007 was in March when a group of the ladies from my church scrapbooking group decided not to take our scrapbooking to a deeper level by faithbooking. In the process, they chose to not only turn their back on the idea but to turn their back on my as well. In doing so, they turned away at least 8 other ladies and damaged the reputation of the ministry.

The high of 2008 came through the experience of the low! One of the ladies of the group stood up for me by standing by my side through all of the ups and downs that came with such an experience. She has become the sister that I didn’t have growing up! We were also invited to join SEVERAL other scrapbooking groups as well as a faithbooking group. I’ve also found a wonderful friend who owns a faithbooking retreat company. She’s asked me to join her on a planning committee and takes me along with her to all the retreats! God is so good!! He is ALWAYS faithful and true.
