The Mad Cropper - All About Scrapbooking

Creating Layouts — A Tip

by Christine on September 7th, 2007

It is most mad cropper’s dream to get published. Getting published is a testament to how others view your creation. However, there are other scrappers who create layouts with the goal of getting it published. Pia Lopez says that when you do this, you create pressure for yourself.

Pia advises

I have learned…that…If I’m pressured to do something the more that I couldn’t get it done. I’m sure we have all felt the same when we are joining a contest or a challenge or when we want to submit to publications. We pressure ourselves to create masterpieces! But when we start to have fun … to let go … things change, it becomes easier and we no longer feel the pressure.

When I created my layout that will be published on Memory Makers 601 Idea Book, I did the layout because I wanted to not because I wanted it to be published. I happen to see the call from MM and I have 2 layouts that I’ve not posted in any gallery. So I submitted those 2 layouts without expecting anything and one from the two got in! Not bad right? I was happy I did that layout and having it published is just a bonus! Same with this layout for the Feb 2008 issue … it was not meant for the call, in fact it was my layout for Scrapbukan but it fit the call for that issue so I submitted it. And yes it was accepted!
Easier said than done? Oh I know that I’ve been there many times too. But will try to keep this in mind all the time. Let go … have fun!
